The change in Suhani's life

Construction of toilets and Remedial Education Centre in Suhani’s village is helping her progress towards a better future. Sponsorship changes lives in ways you wouldn't have even thought.

The change in Suhani's life

12-year-old Suhani studies in the 8th standard. She has an elder sister and a younger brother. Her mother is a housewife and her father works in a private company in Pauri. Before World Vision India started working in her village, people practiced open defecation and it was dangerous especially because of the leopard and tiger attacks. Pauri has a high case of leopard and tiger attacks.

After construction of toilet in Suhani’s home, she feels much safer. A Remedial Education Centre (REC) has also been set up in the community which is helping Suhani do much better in school too.

REC is an innovative approach and community-led process that seeks to ensure learning support to children of age 6-14 years, in the community to inculcate basic knowledge about reading, writing, math and life skills. Every study centre has a teacher and free classes are given for two hours. It is to ensure that children attain appropriate age learning and also develop foundational, essential and applied life skills.

Support for Farmers

“I always used similar seeds in the field and never used multiple seeds due to lack of finances. This is a good opportunity to see the variety of vegetables."

Child Protection

Tulasi: "Now I am more aware of child protection issues and can protect myself. I know about the government mechanisms that support and protect us."

Education Support

Kinjal: "My father is an alcoholic and barely earns enough to support my education. I would have had to drop out if World Vision India hadn't supported me in pursuing a nursing course for a better future."

World Vision India’s Gift Catalogue offers a meaningful way to make a lasting impact. Make a difference and be a part of someone’s brighter tomorrow.
